Tip: Best harsh (but smart) advice for the upcoming year.

If you are a regular tip reader of ours you will know we are fans of Sahil Bloom, author of the bestselling book, The 5 Types of Wealth.

Here is the best advice Sahil got when he was in his 20s:

“Nobody cares. Stop fearing the judgment of people who were never even thinking about them. Nobody is thinking about you. They’re too busy thinking about themselves. Go do the thing.”

Our phones seem to be proof that everyone is living their own lives, in their own cocoons. What we love about this advice is it is so applicable in all aspects of your life. But, because Shepa Learning is all about building new relationships and enhancing the relationships you already have, here's how to apply this mantra:

Don’t fear reaching out to people. You may be surprised how happy they are to connect. And if they are not, stop fearing their judgement. When you reach out, whether going up to a stranger at a networking event or texting, emailing or calling someone new, remember this one word, “So”. So, what is the worst thing that is going to happen? You will not be struck by lightning, the floor will not open and swallow you up.

No one is thinking about you, they are too busy in their own world. It is up to you to stay on their radar. You are more likely to get their attention if you make a point of discovering what you can do for them. But even if you can’t think of anything at this very moment, stay on their radar. Here is some good information on how to stay on the radar of people in your network.
