Tip: 3 easy ways to make meeting remotely feel less remote
1. Log into the online call early. You may get the opportunity to have a conversation with the people who also show up early. If you are running the meeting, encourage these conversations.
2. If people are adding their comments in chat, engage in that as well. If you like what they are saying, let them know. “Good idea”. “Good link, thanks for sharing.”
3. If there is someone on the call you would like to follow up with (whether it was something they mentioned at the meeting, or you just think there is some ‘fit’) send them a private message and ask if you can grab 10 minutes after the call. Explain why you want to talk to them. Spontaneity might get you a yes, rather than having to get into a scheduling discussion.
Remember, these are all perfectly normal things you would do if you were in a meeting in your office. So, it’s not weird.
