Monthly Piece Published in the Reading Eagle - March 2023

The TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce within the last two months has held a very successful Membership Breakfast, Pottstown Progress Luncheon, and Boyertown Area Progress Dinner. In January we had a panel presentation at our Membership Breakfast focused on “Internships – Are They Right for My Business.”

The February Pottstown Progress Luncheon featured three legislators sharing insight into all the ways Pottstown is progressing, and the Boyertown Area Progress Dinner program featured the annual Boyertown Area Progress Dinner video that is designed, showcases, and is recorded by the students and teacher in the telecommunications department at Boyertown Area High School.

These 3 events were a great way to focus on the Chamber’s first cornerstone, Building Communities. We have already heard multiple stories of Members following up with each other after the breakfast working on providing opportunities for our local students. The Pottstown Progress Luncheon and the Boyertown Area Progress Dinner were events that we have held for a number of years and we enjoy showcasing the progress and positive going on in specific communities within our tri-county region.

Our next 2 larger events are focused on our second cornerstone, Creating Connections. We look forward to our Creating Connections Mixer on March 30. The event will be held at Rivet: Canteen and Assembly. This is our first event at this Chamber Member venue and we look forward to welcoming our Members to this very cool space. At this Mixer, the TriCounty Chamber will also be holding our 1st Ever Celebrity Bartender Night! We are very excited about this new component that we are adding to this event. Attendees will have a chance to meet new people, continue to build relationships with fellow Chamber Members and contribute to local non-profits. Each “celebrity bartender”, during their 1/2hour shift, will be competing to get the most tips and those tips will be donated to a non-profit of their choice. Rich Newell, President & CEO of Pottstown and Phoenixville Hospitals – Tower Health will bartend from 4:30 to 5 PM and his tips will be donated to TriCounty Community Network. From 5 to 5:30 PM we will have Rick Patel, President of Diamond Credit Union, and he will raise donations for Boyertown Area Multi-Service. Our newly re-launched Young Professionals program will be represented by Megan LaRosa, AVP Cash Management Sales Officer with Tompkins; Megan’s tips will be donated to the TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc. Closing out our event will be Peggy Lee-Clark, Executive Director of Pottstown Area Economic Development. She will be behind the bar from 6 to 6:30 PM and her tips will be donated to Pottstown Area Economic Development. We are also excited to announce that Diamond Credit Union is also serving as a sponsor for the March 30 event. We are anxious for this Mixer and Celebrity Bartender addition and know it will be a great night and a lot of fun!

That brings us to our big night! The ‘BE IN THE ROOM’ event, the TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. Just as the Mixer mentioned above focuses on Creating Connections, the Annual Dinner is the night for Connections. The networking reception is the perfect opportunity to rub elbows and catch up with connections that you already have or meet the next, right connection for your business. On April 26 we will welcome Kay & Shi – Entrepreneurs, Speakers, Sisters – as our keynote speakers.

About our speakers – “When Kay & Shi were 10 and 17, their parents quit their careers and “bet it all” to buy a tiny breakfast restaurant in a California ski town. The sisters instantly gained a front row seat to the drama of American entrepreneurship, and joined the ownership to help grow the business into a national brand featured on Food Network, in The New York Times, Forbes and more. The sisters maintain ownership of the 8 figure restaurant chain and serve as co-chairs of the board.” We are excited for their presentation next month and know that their talk will have an impact on our Members as Kay & Shi spent time speaking with our Membership to learn about the business climate in our region. Don’t miss the opportunity to “Be in the room!”
