Tip: How to keep our heads in the chaos around us.

Each week we try to keep our tips focused on building better networks and enhancing relationships but lately we’ve been a little distracted — an understatement!

Sahil Bloom offers a useful perspective on “How to Prepare for an Uncertain Future.” Uncertainty is coming from new technologies, (specifically AI) and now add global tariffs to the mix.

Bloom says throw out the Old Business Model, which was:

1. Plan your 5, 10, or 15-year plan — that seems wildly impossible today!

2. Execute — daily actions based on the plan

3. Outcome — track and achieve

He suggests a much shorter timeline and doing the following in a perpetual loop:

1. “Execute: Take action, move, create, build

2. Adapt: Gather information from execution, think, learn, adjust”

“We need to scrap the old linear mindset (Plan, Execute) and replace it with an iterative mindset (Execute, Adapt) and refocus on what will not change, and build our plans around that.” These are some of the timeless human truths that Bloom says will not change in the future:

● "Humans will want real, personal connection

Humans will want to consume things that make them feel good

Humans will be seeking meaning, purpose, and clarity

Humans will pay for things that reduce friction

Humans will seek out status and improved social positioning

Humans will be insecure"

“Please consider this a dynamic list—part of embracing uncertainty is being willing to adjust, add, or edit without apprehension. No dogmas, just action."

Our thought to you (and ourselves) is when talking to friends, colleagues, your team, your company perhaps use this dynamic list of what will remain the same to plan a way forward. Bloom says, “The goal is to focus on developing a set of skills and attributes that are relevant and valuable in a range of potential futures."
